FOCUS

TARGET

Believing that people are left in poverty not because they are lazy but that they have no access to working capital, CEDEF exist to support the holistic development of the businesses of the economically active-poor, marginalised or excluded groups, (especially women and youth entrepreneurs) who are committed to building sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.

The Company’s focus is on agricultural food production and marketing, trading, dressmaking and tailoring, hairdressing and barbering, carpentry and pottery.  CEDEF’s purpose is to make fair credits available to the economically active-poor groups, (in some cases individual entrepreneurs) in both the urban poor and rural areas in the company’s operational areas. Promotion of women operated micro enterprises is of key importance.

RELATIONSHIP

LOANS

Eighty per cent, (80%) of CEDEF Loan funds would be allocated to the poor but active entrepreneurs who have organised themselves into groups. The remaining twenty percent (20%) of the funds could be allocated to Individual clients who might not necessary fall within the scope as defined as poor but will need the CEDEF facility in order to help the poor.  Such loans may create job or training opportunities for the poor or may provide them with marketing opportunities.

The relationship between CEDEF and the client(s) is termed as Creditor/Debtor relationship.

It is therefore necessary that the potential group should:

• Have Legal status.
• Have Bye-laws
• Officers
• Have Active Bank Account.
• Be willing to contribute, at least, 20% of the amount needed to finance the project.
